Mike "Paddy" Meenan - Rest in Peace

Index

Name:  Mike "Paddy" Meenan 29th February 2008
Mike “Paddy” Meenan crossed the bar on the 29th February 2008 at a hospital in Brighton after a short illness.

Paddy was discharged from the Royal Navy in the 80’s having suffered brain damage following an operation. Paddy eventually ended up in a residential nursing home called The Searchlight Workshops in East Sussex and although out of view he was never forgotten. He took great delight in receiving his Handlers Herald.

On behalf of myself, the Committee, and the Association we send our sincere condolences to Paddy’s family.

I will inform you all when I know more details of the funeral arrangements.

Yours Aye

Vic Murphy
AHA Chairman

  • R.I.P. Paddy. We were on a few courses together at ‘The College of Knowledge’ and on HMS Eagle 1969/70.
  • Very sorry to hear the sad news about Paddy. I used to give him a lift in to camp when we were at Yeovil together. Rest in Peace Mike.
  • So sorry to hear that Paddy has crossed the “Bar”, ( it wouldn’t have been the 1st one).
I knew him well at Yeovilton in the 70’s/80’s, and spent many good lunch time seshes in the CPO/PO’s mess’s. A good man and a good Aircraft Handler.
    R.I.P. Paddy

  • Sorry to hear of Paddy’s death I never knew Paddy but I did send him birthday and xmas cards at the workshop . R I P Mike god bless.
  • I served with Paddy on Hermes in 1966 in 2L3 and our old mate Bob Neville was the killick of the mess (RIP Bob) we were all mates to end of the 3rd commission . I then met up with Paddy on Eagle in 1970 in 5J4 and it was his turn to be killick of the mess. I was on the night movements team and our mess numbered about 15 and I know Ken Bowman could name them all. Paddy was a wee irish man with a big heart who loved his mates and I will always have fond memories of him.
    RIP OLD MATE.

  • He was good to me when I was a TD on 702 when he was the Reggie, stopped me dropping in the shit & got me off station duties because of it.
  • I was in Port Watch 2m2 on Hermes and i can remember Paddy.
